Meet Gui Vieira Dumit

I’m Guilherme Vieira Dumit, or simply Gui as I am known everywhere. Originally I am from São Paulo, Brazil, where I started to play tennis when I was 7. Currently, I am a senior in the majors of Economics and International Business at Rollins College with a graduation date in May of 2018.

Before going to Rollins, I was ranked top-10 in my state for 5 straight years beginning at 12’s. Also, I was a top-50 nationally ranked junior in Brazil at 16’s and 18’s (four straight years) in singles. In Doubles, I won the national championships in the 16’s and my highest national ranking was of 16. At the end of my first year competing against 18-year-olds, I played two ITF grade 5s and two ITF grade 4s. In all of them, I reached the second or third-rounds. Also participated in two future tournaments at the age of 18 and went through the qualifying.  Trained most of my life with Adriano Ferreira, previously ranked #130 ATP (in Ribeirao Preto City), and Elson Longo, head of biomechanics studies and capacitation professor for the national Brazilian Tennis confederation as well as the Latin American Tennis confederation (in São Carlos City).

As captain of the men’s tennis team at Rollins College, I have been required to speak in many languages to athletes from different countries, which was challenging in order to think of original ways to maintain their attention, especially when focusing on the team goal. Meanwhile, I was also required to schedule and plan all of mine and some of the team’s other tasks properly so the appropriate and demanded effort could be achieved at all times. I did not compete my Freshman year. I played singles mostly my sophomore and junior years, all out of the #6 spot. In Doubles, I played all years through Sophomore year out of the 2nd and 3rd positions. Was 2-3 in singles and in doubles my junior year. I have changed my style of game numerous times, but I could be considered a fast doubles player, and I am someone who changes the game pace a lot in singles, while also attacking the ball from the baseline.  I love to teach and look forward to meeting you.
